Training and reference CD-ROM

Design and create a CD-ROM that will run on a Windows system. The CD will contain video, images, text and sound. The content and layout had to meet some very exacting requirements including a version that was Windows 3.1 compatible. To do this two versions were made, one with a less impressive and palette limited interface and the other with full 24 bit palette support. To reduce the possibility of playback problems the video clips were encoded to AVI with a standard codec and also to the new Flash video format so no external codec support was required.

Interactive training portfolio

Design and build an interactive program to facilitate the training of childminders. The program will be delivered on CD-ROM; coincide with a training workbook; and allow users to enter, save, and back up responses and other information over the course of the training (1 year). Additionally, users must be able to print information in high quality WYSIWIG (what you see is what you get) pages. Technical Notes: Due to the client's requirement that users see onscreen what they see in the training workbook, I converted the workbook pages (originally created by the client in Quark XPress) to Flash format. This enabled the Director application to import and interact with the pages and retain a scalable, high quality, printable page. At the same time, Director interacted with the users' OS to load, save, backup, and restore information.
